Tuesday 9 May, Year 7 attended Sydney Zoo as part of their studies in Biology. As well as seeing an impressive variety of exhibits, they participated in a hands-on lesson about the classification of life, with a focus on vertebrates. They met insects, lizards and snakes, learning about their adaptations to survive in the environment in which they have evolved.
Students enjoyed their time seeing animals organised by geographic region and ecological niche. As well as the ever-popular meerkats, some of the students’ favourite encounters were the snapping turtle, the African wild dogs, spotted quolls and bull sharks.
