How to Explain Absences Online

How to Explain Your Child's Absence from School - Online through the Parent Portal

These instructions assume that you have already created a Parent Portal account and entered the student access key for your child. If you haven't done so, please refer to the tab ‘Create a Parent Portal Account – Step-by-Step Guide'.

To explain an absence from school online:

1. Login to the Parent Portal (www.smithshill-h.sentral.com.au/auth/portal)

2. In the menu at the left of your screen, under your child's name , click on the ‘Absences' link.

3. You will see all absences for your child listed chronologically.

Select an absence you wish to explain, write a brief explanation and click 'submit'.
