Principal's message

SHHS leaders

I hope this newsletter finds you well.  Whilst I have taken on the role of Relieving Principal in very unfortunate and sad circumstances, I am still delighted to welcome our school community back after the summer break and I hope you had a wonderful and restful time with your families. I consider it an absolute privilege to take on the responsibility and caretaking role of our amazing school in Mr Deitz’s absence. Mr Deitz continues to be on leave this term and is engaging in his recovery and rehabilitation with the same enthusiasm and dedication as he demonstrates in his role as Principal at SHHS. I have conveyed to him the many messages and well-wishers that we have received, and he is very grateful for the care and compassion that has been shown to him and his family. SHHS is never far from his thoughts, and he continues to have input into certain aspects of our school.

As we begin the new school year, I want to take this opportunity to remind you of our commitment to provide a high-quality education for all of our students. Our staff engaged in Professional Learning at the end of last year and at the start of this term to prepare for the new school year and to make sure that we have the resources and support in place to provide the best possible education for our students. Our HSC results in 2022 were once again exceptional and a strong reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students and the unwavering commitment and care of our staff in supporting our students in this journey.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all students to get involved in our many extracurricular activities and programs, such as sports teams, music groups, and the many other diverse and exciting clubs and groups we have available. These opportunities provide students with a chance to pursue their interests, develop new skills, and make friends.

Attendance:
I would like to remind parents and carers of the importance of regular attendance and punctuality. Regular attendance is essential for students to achieve their full potential and to make the most of the education that we provide. If you have any concerns about your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Uniform:
Another important aspect of our school is the wearing of the school uniform. Wearing a school uniform helps to promote a sense of unity and pride in our school and provides a level of consistency in terms of dress code. It also helps to create a professional learning environment and sets the tone for a positive and productive day of learning. We will continue to uphold our high standards for uniform. Further information regarding school uniform can be found on the school webpage.

P & C meeting:
The first P & C meeting is Monday 20 February. Additional information about the meeting will be distributed soon. We look forward to meeting new parents and carers.

Finally, I would like to thank our school community for their support and commitment to providing a high-quality education for our students. I am confident that, with this ongoing cooperation and hardwork, we will have a productive and successful school year.
