Over two fresh, fall-like days, 31 of our students in Years 7 to 10 pitted their skills and knowledge against 160 of their yearly counterparts in what is arguably the most gruelling of all academic competitions.
The Year Ten team placed 1st in Code Breaking and Cartography, 2nd in Mathematics, 2nd in Ideation and 3rd in Science.
The Year Nine team placed 1st in English, 1st in Creative Producers and 2nd in Ideation, for an overall 3rd place showing in the region.
The Year Eight team finished 3rd in Ideation, 3rd in Art & Poetry, 2nd in English, 2nd in Code Breaking, 2nd in Science and 2nd in Mathematics for an overall 2nd place finish in the region.
While the Year Seven team finished 1st in English, 1st in Art & Poetry, 1st in Legacy and 2nd in Science, to succeed in realising an overall first place in the Illawarra region.
Along with our Year Eleven team, the Year Seven team will be representing Smith's Hill High School at the da Vinci Decathlon State Championships.
Not only did these highly gifted students strive to realise their academic potential, but more importantly the sense of achievement, skill development and friendships gained through the years of training and competitions will last a lifetime.
