A new record for largest snow globe collection

Snow globe collection

Sitting in Ms Doyle’s classroom, you find it hard to ignore the hundreds of snow globes that decorate the cabinets. She’s always seemed to love them, with the unique ability to tell us everything about any one of them, despite having so many. It all started with a classroom rule that stated, if you go on a holiday, you must bring Doyley back a snow globe.

During a Pop Culture class last year, Callum Belgrove and I figured there must be a world record sitting in this room. After looking it up, we learned that the world record for the largest collection of snow globes was 4,059 (shout out to Wendy Suen from China). There are certainly a lot of snow globes in Ms Doyle’s room, but nowhere near that many. We were disheartened, sure, but it was short-lived. After consulting The Australian Book of Records, we learned that the Australian record for the largest collection of snow globes was only 397, a record set by a woman named Jessica back in 2017.

After a quick count of Ms Doyle’s snow globes, with the help of Issy Brightman, Connor Mackay and Callum Belgrove, Ms Doyle’s official snow globe tally sat at an insane 502! With a newfound motivation, I got in touch with The Australian Book of Records, officialising the tally, making her enormous snow globe collection an official national record. So a big thank you to The Australian Book of Records, Issy Brightman, Connor Mackay and Callum Belgrove for their efforts. Congratulations to Australian record-holder Ms Doyle and her snow globes! If you haven’t seen the collection, take a trip down to E12 to take a look, you’ll notice Ms Doyle’s official Record Breaker Certificate sitting in the window.
