SHHS captains

As the school year of 2022 comes to an end, I want to recognise the hard work and dedication of students, parents and staff that has resulted in such a successful year for our school community. This success was not just evident in our students’ HSC results, it was evident across all year groups throughout the year. Whether be their academic studies, sporting endeavours or cocurricular activities, students have experienced both growth and achievement in so many endeavours this year. Achieving personal bests, persevering in the face of challenges, and collaborating with peers are not easy tasks, however, they are the tasks that develop important life skills required for future success. The fact that our students do this with such grace and regularity is truly impressive.

The pursuit of excellence is not just about earning good grades or winning awards; it's about striving to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be. At Smith's Hill High School, we believe that education is about more than just mastering subject matter. It's about developing the whole person, and that means fostering values like endeavour, respect, integrity, compassion, and harmony. These values are at the heart of everything we do here, and they are the foundation upon which we build our community. I am extremely proud of the way in which students, parents and staff contribute to creating a positive school culture and a special place to learn and grow. Your cooperation, your willingness to help and support, and your commitment to treating everyone with kindness and respect are all qualities that we value deeply at our school.

When a school focuses on excellence, developing the important skills of perseverance, collaboration and growth through achieving personal bests, then students experience success. This was evident in the HSC and ATAR results released last week. In addition to the outstanding individual results, our graduating students have received numerous early entry offers, scholarships and cadetships of choice. Again, I am extremely proud of all of our students’ achievements and the manner in which our teaching and non-teaching staff have supported them along the way. I wish all of our staff, students and their families a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy holiday.
