Last Monday, the wealth and future of Smith’s Hill’s Drama program was on display for all to enjoy. Featuring an astonishing array of work from all three junior classes, students performed completely original material at Expo and at the Showcase that followed afterwards.
Students leapt at the opportunity to present their skills for potential SmithHillians at Expo, and the highlights were the plays, Red + Blue Makes Purple by Mana Al-Khemesy and Hanna Murphy by Cynthia Cai. It was great to see such imagination and creativity on the stage.
The Junior Drama Showcase is a biannual event at which our amazing actors and designers have the opportunity to strut their ‘hour upon the stage’ (Macbeth). We were privileged to enjoy wonderfully loud mime pieces from our Introduction to Drama students; socially relevant and exciting plays by Lily Bell, Lilly Flinn, Luca Heir, Leela Lanceley and Alyssa Rawsthorne (performed by the uber cool members of the Page2Stage course); and masterful improvisational from the zany and super talented actors from the So You Think You Can Act course. All of these were incredibly backed by our crew of Mana, Liam Fletcher, Isabelle Hodgson (with Annie and Davina snapping snazzy pics). Many thanks to all friends and family who came along to witness such stupendous work on stage.
