21 May 2021
On 22 April 2021, Smith's Hill students and staff saw their first whole school sports carnival since the swimming carnival of 2020. It’s safe to say that the event was heavily anticipated by the student body, the 2021 Cross Country carnival providing a fun day for the runners and spectators alike. The day saw students from all different age groups and houses, running varying distances around Stuart Park and surrounding pathways. The event was sound-tracked by the starting horn of each race with cheering and shouts of encouragement from participants and onlookers. Participation was to a high level; students entering the races to beat a personal best or to purely stroll with friends, while they cheered on their peers as they raced to the finish line.
A commendable thank you to all the staff and teachers who made this event possible, especially Miss Tweddle. Without Miss Tweddle's hard work and dedication, the event would not have been half as successful as it was. At the end of the day, the first ten racers over the finish line for each age group qualified for Zone, which we expect to hear great results from!
