All public schools in NSW are currently identifying ways to make the great things that they do even better, including levels of student academic achievement and wellbeing. At Smith’s Hill High School, we are extremely proud of the manner in which students, parents and staff all contribute to a positive school culture in which all students can flourish in a safe and supportive environment. As we develop our new four year school plan, we too are wanting to build upon the success of the past and further develop positive learning outcomes for all students at our school.
Knowing our students and their needs is a key feature of the work currently being undertaken by staff in developing areas for improvement. Within a high school setting, we recognise that there are different improvement priorities within our various key learning areas that have been identified from various data sources, including the school’s HSC and NAPLAN results. Student wellbeing data collected by the school, including the Department of Education’s “Tell Them From Me” survey data, has been useful in identifying areas for improving student wellbeing and additional educational opportunities.
As we work towards finalising the improvement areas and associated initiatives to support improved outcomes for students, the school will be consulting with all members of the school community to ensure that everyone has an understanding of and can contribute to the ongoing success and positive outcomes for all students at Smith’s Hill High School.
