Archaeology Elective DIG...

Mrs Doyle’s Semester 2 Archaeology class recently carried out their authentic DIG event. Groups of 3-4 in our class dug at a site prepared by Mrs Doyle. Objects such as old foreign coins, antique war heirlooms, medals, Steve Wozniak’s business card and various other items were buried, ready for our class to discover and dig up. These findings were carefully cleaned, classified, analysed and presented. The dig was very hands on and interactive, allowing us to be creative and apply our technological skills to produce documentaries about our discoveries. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the DIG as it was a very fun and practical application of the material covered in our syllabus, while giving us a sense of what it is like to be an archaeologist out in the field. :)
