Congratulations to James Taylor, Alofa Heka, and Marilena Camino who were nominated by the school to be recognised at the 2019 Regional South Network Awards for their outstanding work in their respective categories.
James Taylor: Category 1 - Early Career Teacher
This award acknowledges teachers who have worked consistently achieving significant success in their first five years of teaching. They have also displayed exemplary skills in teaching and learning inspiring their students to reach their highest potential.
James was recognised for his exceptional start to teaching and the significant contribution that he has made within the Technology and Applied Studies faculty at Smith’s Hill High School.
Alofa Heka: Category 2 - Classroom Teacher
These awards acknowledge classroom teachers who have contributed significantly to their students, the school and to the wider school community. They have in many cases also mentored and coached less experienced teachers in their own school and also in other schools. They are committed educators who inspire students and staff.
Alofa was recognised for her outstanding and sustained contributions to improving student learning outcomes across the key learning area of Human Society and its Environment. Her passion and commitment to helping every student reach their goals and dreams is clearly evident in all that she does.
Marilena Camino: Category 4 - School Administration and Support Staff
Our public schools would not operate as efficiently as they do, offer the range of student opportunities and promote public education so successfully in the wider community without the support of our school administrative staff. These staff include School Administration Managers, School Administration Officers, Student Learning Support Officers, Agricultural, General, Hospitality, Library and Science Assistants.
Marilena, our School Administration Manager, was recognised as an outstanding individual and a wonderful example of the valuable, quality School Administrative Support Staff we have in our schools, who are so vitally important to the success of all we do and achieve in Public Education. Her deep commitment to the Smith's Hill High School community is clearly evident in all that she does and is highly valued by students, staff and parents alike.
