Last week Portia Johnson represented the Illawarra South East Region at the Legacy Junior Public Speaking State Semi Final. Once again there were two sections, the presentation of a prepared speech and then the students were given 5 minutes to prepare an impromptu speech on an unseen topic. Portia presented two engaging speeches on the impact of technology on physical conversations, and then an impromptu on the need to create new legislation for fire bugs in light of the bushfires burning out of control in Queensland.
Unfortunately, Portia was not chosen to proceed to the State Final, however, Portia and Lexie (support crew) had a very educational day with some life lessons learnt…
