Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council at Smith's Hill High School is made up of students elected by their peers to lead and organise important school events like Harmony Day, sausage sizzle fundraisers, World’s Greatest Shave, Sportopia and Festivus. They play a vital role in fostering school spirit and community involvement. Council members regularly meet to discuss and contribute to decisions that impact the school. This leadership opportunity empowers students to have a strong voice and make a positive difference in the school community.

Debating and public speaking

Our students develop skills in critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and argument construction through participation in events including Premiers Debating Challenge, univerisity competitions, Legacy Junior Public Speaking, Plain English Speaking and Rostrum Voice of Youth. Our staff provide a supportive environment where students can build confidence and sharpen their public speaking abilities. Participation helps students become informed, articulate, and thoughtful contributors to discussions both in and beyond the classroom.

Music Ensembles

Smith's Hill High School offers a vibrant range of music ensembles for students of all levels and abilities. The Concert Band welcomes brass, woodwind, and percussion players to rehearse and perform at school events throughout the year. Our String Orchestra and Guitar Ensemble provide opportunities for students to showcase their talents in diverse musical styles at performances including school evenings and special public events. For those passionate about Jazz, the Jazz Ensemble offers a dynamic experience playing Big Band music, with membership open to concert band members.

Camps and excursions

This year, Smith's Hill High School students have enjoyed a variety of exciting excursions, including visits to Green Connect Farm, Luna Park, and engaging field studies. These experiences provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Our camps and excursions foster teamwork, exploration, and real-world understanding. School production

Students have the opportunity to participate in the annual school production, where they can develop their skills in acting, singing, and dancing. Southern Stars

Academic competitions

Smith's Hill High School encourages students to participate in a variety of academic competitions, including Tournament of Minds, Da Vinci Decathlon, Titration Challenge, Australian Maths Trust, and Science Olympiads. These competitions challenge students to apply their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills in engaging and collaborative environments. School Musical

In 2025, our school proudly presented the musical production of High School Musical. This exciting event involved many of our students, providing them with a wonderful opportunity to develop their talents, build confidence, and work collaboratively. The production was a fantastic showcase of creativity and school spirit, and we look forward to offering more enriching experiences like this in the future.

SEAL (School Environment Action League)

SQuID (Students for Queer and Inclusive Diversity)

PAW (Protection Animal Welfare)

Smith's Fortnightly

Smith’s Fortnightly is our student-run newsletter. The club provides a relaxed and supportive environment for students interested in contributing, offering opportunities to enhance writing skills, explore journalism, connect with the school community, and develop leadership abilities.

SHHS Volleyball Club

MCAW (Music Creation and Writing)

MCAW is a music club that focusses on songwriting, collaboration, and playing music live. Students who wish to participate have the opportunity to write their own songs in a group and individual setting, perform live, and cover popular songs.
