Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

Resilience in our teens (RIOT) program

Our Resilience in Our Teens (RIOT) program is designed to help students build important skills in managing stress, overcoming challenges, and developing emotional strength.

What is RIOT?
RIOT is a practical, evidence-based program that teaches teens resilience strategies through workshops and activities. It focuses on helping students:

Why is RIOT important?
Teenagers often face significant challenges both academically and personally. Learning resilience equips them to bounce back from setbacks and thrive in all areas of life. This program supports not only academic success but also personal growth and wellbeing.

How does Smith’s Hill High School deliver RIOT?
Our wellbeing team facilitates interactive sessions during the school year, engaging students with relatable content and practical tools they can use in their daily lives. We also provide resources for parents and carers to support their teens at home.
