House Cup

The SRC is very excited to announce the House Cup! The House Cup is a school-wide competition between our four school houses and has been designed to award and recognise a student’s demonstration of school values and school spirit. Students will be able to earn points by participating in student-run activities during events such as Soccer Day or Festivus, and participation in school carnivals. House cup points contribute to both a student’s School Service logbook and their overall house points tally. House Cup points are awarded automatically, so all you have to do is participate!

New School Service Logbook

We are very happy to announce that we are finally releasing the new digital School Service Logbook! This new logbook is more accessible to students, both in the different ways that they can earn points and the way that the points are recorded. The aims of the School Service Program are to:

- Increase participation of students as active and valuable members of the school and local community

- Promote awareness of the needs of others and a willingness to be of service to the community

- Enable students to build a portfolio of extra-curricular activities and achievements

The new School Service Logbook will also incorporate the 4th category of “School Spirit”. This is the category where, as mentioned above, the House Cup points will be recorded.

More details about what students can earn points for and how points are recorded will be explained at Week 3 year meetings.

Spirit Week

Spirit Week is a Smith’s Hill first - a week for students to engage in school spirit and take part in activities. Throughout lockdown, the SRC has been aware that school spirit has been low due to a disconnect from school, and believes that spirit week is an opportunity for students to connect. The SRC hopes the addition of Spirit Week will have wellbeing benefits by increasing a student’s connectedness, school spirit, and morale.

The SRC has been very busy organising a series of fun activities for the whole school to participate in during online school. In Week 3, online activities will be released through the school’s Instagram account and students’ emails. Students will earn house points for participating in these activities!
